Existen muchas teorias de como el lenguaje Quichua se disperso en el territorio Ecuatoriano. La teoria mas tradicional dice que ciento de anos de conquista por parte de los Incas establecio el lenguaje en la region. La siguiente etapa de la evolucion del lenguaje empieza con el arribo de los espanoles en 1535. La llegada de los espanoles impacto todos los aspectos de la vida indigena como son del lenguaje, la cultura, sociedad y la economia. Casi ilimino virtualmente todo lenguaje local, siendo el Quichua el lenguaje indigena principal en mantenerse. Se presume que el Quichua sobrivivio por su coneccion con la religion en este periodo.
Este periodo sirvio como escenario para el bilingualismo entre el Quichua y el espanol, que fue el idioma dominante en ese tiempo. En ese tiempo se pensaba que ensenando el espanol era la unica manera de civilizar a los Indigenas. Cambiar el Quichua por el espanol fue parte de la colonizacion, ya que el Quichua era un leguaje elite en el imperio Inca y al cambiarlo por el espanol como leguaje elite el Quichua queda como segundo lenguaje para clases bajas. Este cambio afecta la percepcion del Quichua culturalmente y socialmente. La vista alrededor del Quichua esta llena de verguenza y pobresa. La palabra Quichuan, "yanga shimi", relaciona como la gente se identifica con el lenguaje inservible. Con la victoria de la batalla del Pichincha en 1824 produce la independencia del pais y la republica, la situacion de los nativos se mantiene en exclusion de la sociedad. Este problema social y linguistico encontrado en el Ecuador afecta seriamente al lenguaje Quichua que es parte esencial de la identidad dl Indigena. Mientras se mantiene la idea de civilzar a la gente con la ideologia del desprecio y degrado en la forma de vida del Indigena. El Espanol y Quichua han mantenido una influencia uno tras el otro. El proceso de combinar ambos idiomas continua en el Ecuador y en el presente se puede encontrar hablantes de ambos idiomas. En la actualidad existen muchos proyectos para un sistema bilengual. INGLES There are several different theories on how the South American language, Quichua, was dispersed throughout Ecuador. The most traditional theory claims a hundred year conquest by the Incas established the language in region. The next stage to develop the language was the arrival of the Spaniards in 1535. The Spanish arrival impacted the natives’ language, culture, society, and economics. It also virtually eliminated nearly all the local languages with Quichua as the principle remaining Indigenous language. It is said the language may have survived solely on its religious connections in the sector during the time period. This period served as the first stage bilingualism with Spanish, which was the dominant language of the time. It was thought the teaching of Spanish was the only way to civilize the natives as many other conquerors had also reasoned. Curing the Incan rein, Quichua had been the language of the elite, but the Spanish colonization quickly changed that by naming Spanish elite and Quichua the uncivilized language of lower classes. It was during this reversal that the language’s cultural identity and corresponding society’s perception began to change. The views surrounding Quichua were now filled with embarrassment and poverty. The Quichuan word, yanga shimi, epitomizes how people now identified with it as a “worthless language.” When the victorious battle of Pichincha in 1824 produced an independent country and republic, the Indians’ situation remained the same through exclusion. These sociolinguistic problems encountered by Ecuador over history have seriously affected the Quichua language’s identity within its native lands. While the idea of civilizing a people by disparaging their traditional ways is demeaning, Spanish and Quichua have also greatly influenced each other. The process of combining languages still continues in Ecuador with the increasing commonality of bilingual speakers in present day.
